Why doesn't your supplement contain pepper with curcumin?

Indeed, several studies have shown that pepper can enhance the absorption of curcumin. However, combining curcumin with pepper can have unwanted effects. The piperine found in pepper can increase intestinal permeability, allowing larger molecules like curcumin to pass through the intestinal wall and be better absorbed into the bloodstream. However, excessive consumption of pepper or piperine can lead to increased intestinal permeability, which could raise health concerns.

That’s why I decided to develop a formula containing turmeric with a patented formula that guarantees its bioavailability – Curcumin Phytosome®.

    Adult acne in women

Although the process of acne remains the same, involving excessive sebum secretion, follicular blockage, and microbial proliferation, its presentation in women differs from juvenile acne.

    Manifestations of Acne in Women

Location: It mainly appears on the lower part of the face, around the jawline and chin (called U-shaped acne), and can also affect the décolletage.
Types of lesions: Acne-prone skin in women is often characterized by inflammatory lesions, nodules on the chin, and microcysts. These can leave residual pigmentation and atrophic scars.
    Triggering Factors

Heredity: A well-known factor, but not the only one.
Stress: Identified as a contributing factor to acne flare-ups.
Hormonal variations: Progesterone produced before menstruation stimulates the activity of sebaceous glands. Additionally, certain oral contraceptives or hormonal IUDs can promote acne in adult women.
Inappropriate cosmetic products: Some cosmetics, particularly those with essential oils, can worsen acne.
Excess androgens due to PCOS: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) can also contribute to acne in adult women.
In summary, acne in adult women is characterized by its specific location and types of lesions, influenced by hereditary, hormonal, psychological, and environmental factors. Adopting suitable skincare and managing triggering factors can help reduce these manifestations.

Can I take this supplement with Roaccutane or any other acne treatment?

Before combining a supplement with medical treatment, we recommend consulting your doctor and/or dermatologist.

    Acne around the mouth

Hormonal acne often appears on the lower part of the face, around the mouth, such as the jawline, chin, and neck, and is frequently characterized by painful, deep cysts that are difficult to treat with traditional skincare.

On the other hand, digestive acne can appear on various parts of the face, but it is often associated with the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) due to its connection with digestion and the liver. It can include a variety of lesions, ranging from blackheads and whiteheads to pustules and papules.

What are the possible treatments for hormonal acne?

For a more in-depth treatment, we recommend consulting a dermatologist or an endocrinologist for a hormonal assessment. The results of this evaluation may suggest the need to adjust birth control pills for those taking them and suffering from hormonal acne. Some pills are more effective in treating hormonal acne, although not all of them are reimbursed.

This evaluation could also lead to the prescription of a medication, with effectiveness varying from person to person. Treatment options include:

Topical treatments: Use of creams containing benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, or erythromycin (although the latter may show resistance in some individuals). Oral treatments: Prescription of isotretinoin (Roaccutane) for severe acne forms. However, side effects are numerous, and the treatment is not always 100% effective for adult acne. Combined treatments: A combination of topical and oral treatments, such as antibiotics with zinc and hormone therapy. Spironolactone: Some researchers and dermatologists recommend this diuretic and antihypertensive steroid, which has shown promising results in treating hormonal acne.

Nutritional Management of Hormonal Acne: Diet plays a crucial role in skin health. In the case of acne, it's important to focus on anti-inflammatory foods that benefit the gut flora. The Mediterranean diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, fatty fish, healthy oils, seeds, and nuts, is an excellent example of an anti-inflammatory diet.

Naturally Treating Acne in Women with PCOS

This involves managing insulin resistance, which increases androgen levels and worsens skin symptoms. Chronic inflammation, common in these patients, can also amplify PCOS symptoms as well as other chronic conditions.

Although medications can alleviate symptoms, a tailored diet offers a sustainable and effective solution. Adopting an anti-inflammatory diet, by avoiding ingredients such as palm oil, gluten, and dairy products, can improve acne and other manifestations of PCOS in just a few weeks.

An intolerance test can help identify specific triggers. By eliminating these foods from the diet and adding appropriate nutritional supplements, it is possible to reduce inflammation and improve overall health. Maintaining a healthy diet is essential for effectively managing PCOS and reducing associated risks such as weight gain and insulin resistance.

    Inflammatory Acne

This form of acne is characterized by inflamed lesions such as papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. These lesions form when hair follicles become clogged with excess sebum and dead skin cells, creating an environment conducive to the proliferation of bacteria like Propionibacterium acnes. The body’s immune response to this bacterial infection results in visible inflammation in the form of redness, swelling, and sometimes pain.

Inflammatory acne is often more severe than non-inflammatory acne and can lead to permanent scarring if not properly treated.

Dietary supplements can play a crucial role in managing inflammatory acne:

    • Zinc has anti-inflammatory properties, promotes healing, and regulates sebum production.
    • Vitamin A aids in skin cell turnover and reduces inflammation.
    • Vitamin D modulates the immune response and decreases inflammation.
    • Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil are anti-inflammatory and reduce redness.
    • Probiotics improve gut health, which is beneficial for acne.
    • Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant, helping to repair and protect the skin.
    • Selenium is another antioxidant that protects skin cells from damage.
    • Inositol (myo-inositol and D-chiro inositol) helps regulate hormones, especially beneficial for PCOS.
    • Turmeric, with its curcumin content, is a powerful systemic and skin anti-inflammatory.
    • N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) detoxifies the body and reduces inflammation.

These supplements can be used alongside a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle to help reduce inflammatory acne.

    Rosacea Acne

Often simply called rosacea, this is a chronic skin condition that primarily affects the face. It is characterized by persistent redness, visible blood vessels, and sometimes outbreaks of papules and pustules resembling acne. Unlike common acne, rosacea is not caused by excessive sebum production or clogged pores, but rather by inflammation of the small blood vessels beneath the skin.

Natural solutions include using dietary supplements that can help manage the symptoms of rosacea acne by reducing inflammation, improving skin health, and supporting the immune system:

    • Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish oil like Neptune Omega 3, are anti-inflammatory and help reduce redness and skin inflammation.
    • Vitamin D, like Rising D3, modulates the immune response and helps reduce inflammation.
    • Probiotics improve gut health, which can have a positive effect on rosacea by reducing systemic inflammation.
    • Zinc, as an anti-inflammatory, helps with healing and regulates sebum production.
    • Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, protects the skin from oxidative damage and reduces inflammation.
    • Turmeric, with its curcumin, is a potent anti-inflammatory that helps reduce both systemic and skin inflammation.
    • Selenium, also an antioxidant, helps protect skin cells from damage.
    • Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) is anti-inflammatory, improves skin barrier function, and reduces redness.

By incorporating these dietary supplements into a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, it is possible to effectively support the management of rosacea acne symptoms.

    Visible and fast changes

I started my treatment just a month ago and I already notice a significant improvement in my skin. It is smoother and I no longer have large purulent acne pimples. (I specify that I am 31 years old) Before, even outside of my periods and making efforts with sugar, I had big pimples. Coupled with better eating habits, skincare adapted to my skin type and a little sport, it's really effective! I recommend with my eyes closed ;)
